1/29/09 Synthpond Project

This project is using the SynthPond application from the Ipod Touch.  Starlach initially created a multitude of tracks using this application in combination with GarageBand.  Now that those tracks have been finished, Dan Kaufman has made the first remix.

-The first remix is all the tracks together with no effects, panning or volume alteration between them.  The piece also includes fading on all tracks to create a volume curve (starts soft, reaches a climax, then fades back down to nothing for the finish)  This piece sounds like an interstellar gunship base, very sci-fi :)

SynthPond Remix #1

1/8/09 Beat / Recorder / Bass Project...

Dan Kaufman made this base drum beat for the project using daigasso brothers on the ds and a nintendo ds homebrew called dsdrummy, using these instruments he mixed together snippits to make a piece using Acid Pro 4.0

Beat

After that was completed he uploaded the beat onto the ftp server for Mike Jerger to do the engineering side of things using Garage Band 3.0 on his mac.  Currently Starlach is working on the next section which involves a bassline, guitar, and possibly a recorder (wind instrument).

Beat #2

First Remix Session over the Internet
(December 08)

Harshstar has released a new song entitled "Wishing for the Halo," which facilitates the use of GarageBand, Midi Keyboard, Nintendo DS, and an Ipod Touch.

Co-Produced by
Dan Kaufman and Starlach on 12-7-08, copyright 2008.

If you like this, just wait for what is to come!

We have added recent renditions to this mix below.  Here are the details.

The 1st Track is the barebones of what we started with

The 2nd Track is the addition of lead vocals by Dan Kaufman, who mixed it through Acid Pro 4.0.

- This version has the "umph, yeah, cmon's in the middle of the verse breakdown

The 3rd Track takes the vocals and adds distortion to them and another eq  on top of that.  It also reduces the volume on the main track (Track #1) thru Sonic Forge 5.0, balances out the vocals, and incorporates bussing for the vocal effects.

--This version removed the  "umph, yeah, cmon" part, but leaves the "cmon and let me hear that sound" vocal lick so it can still lead up to the 2nd Verse for the finish with the iPod Touch guitar outro

(The guitar outro sounds like a transition to something else as well)
I'm wondering when all of this will turn into continuous note :)

The 4th Track does another workaround on the vocals; this time with a mix by Starlach.

Distortion and Phaser effects are present in the beginning verse with the inclusion of Panning; the robot droid voices are fixed.  Equalization is also applied to the overall vocals.

The ending verse features a male to female voice alteration w/ more phaser, then finishes off by doubling the vocals by using the original vocals without effects in combination with the female to male alteration.

"Wishing on a Halo" lyrics by Starlach:

Falling from a red sky
He's burning down to the ground
Wishing for the halo
He needs to fly to say goodbye
But if any world could have such a lover
Such a world is one to spare
